Insights from Hercules customer experiences

We all know that there are no small-sized folks in the NFL.

So when we got the chance to show 6 foot, 6 inch tall, 320 pound former NFL defensive tackle Doug Worthington just how easily Hercules can boost a person of his size, we took it.

Doug told us later in this video that he always felt bad when he was in the hospital, knowing that nurses and techs might have to move someone of his size. But Hercules made a huge difference…it was effortless and painless and Doug immediately saw the benefit to both nurses and patients.

Take a look at his video for more (and stay tuned for more about why, exactly, we are “behind the scenes” in this footage).

Automated Boosting that’s Strong, but Doesn’t Feel like a Tug-of-War

One of the biggest risks of manual boosting is jerking or forcefully pulling patients up in bed, rather than simply moving them. For patients with compromised skin, jerking and pulling or even uneven boosting (nurses of differing strengths on either side of the patient) can increase shearing and tear forces.

One thing Doug noticed right away was that he was simply moving gently and steadily up in bed, without any friction on hips hips, heels or head. And this is what all patients report feeling: a general sense of “I’m moving!” without the pain of a forced boost.

(In fact, we recently boosted a six month old on a Hercules equipped bed, and it didn’t even affect his balance on his newfound skill of sitting up.)

This is what makes our tech truly different: we are not simply replacing manual boosting with a similar automated boosting experience. We are changing what boosting looks like and feels like completely.
