President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Bill Hillenbrand is the founder, president and CEO of The Morel Company and the inventor of The Hercules Patient Repositioning System. Mr. Hillenbrand’s career in healthcare began in 1992 at Hill-Rom, a leading global supplier of hospital equipment. While at Hill-Rom, he held leadership positions within a variety of disciplines including sales, marketing, and operations.
Mr. Hillenbrand has also successfully directed the startup of several business ventures and is a current member of Hillenbrand Capital Partners, LLC, a privately held investment partnership. In addition to his work with The Morel Company, Mr. Hillenbrand is the chairman of the Margaret Mary Health Foundation and a member of the John A. Hillenbrand Foundation.
Mr. Hillenbrand earned his BA in History from Denison University in 1991. He currently lives in Batesville, Indiana with his wife Denise and four children.
Tim Savage has over 20 years of experience in sales, marketing, and senior management in the medical equipment field and helped found The Morel Company. Prior to Morel, Mr. Savage was the Vice President of Sales and Business Development for MicroFabrica, a medical technology startup based in California. His experience with medical technology also includes working as Vice President of International and U.S. Sales for Stereotaxis, an interventional robotics company; and serving as Senior Director of International Sales at Intuitive Surgical, the leader in surgical robotics. Mr. Savage also held various sales, marketing, finance, and strategy positions with Hill-Rom throughout the 1990s.
Mr. Savage earned his BS in Marketing from Spring Hill College in 1989, and his MBA in Strategy from Purdue University in 1990. He currently lives in Batesville, Indiana with his wife Rhonda and two children.
Vice President – Operations and Product Development
Joe Kummer has over 25 years of experience in developing innovative healthcare products. Before joining The Morel Company, Mr. Kummer was the Executive Director of Product Development for Hill-Rom, responsible for innovative launches including beds and therapy surfaces for both domestic and international markets.
Mr. Kummer earned his BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 1987. He currently lives in Cincinnati, Ohio with his wife Lori and five children.
Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Doug Kunkel is the CFO for The Morel Company, and has 25+ years of experience in finance and operations. Most recently, he worked at Batesville Casket Company, serving as CFO, Vice President of Operations, Vice President of Global Supply Chain, and Vice President of Sales. Prior to his work with Batesville Casket Company, Mr. Kunkel spent 10 years at Hill-Rom as Vice President and Controller, Director of International Financial Planning, and International Finance Manager. Before joining Hill-Rom, Mr. Kunkel spent six years in public accounting with Arthur Andersen. He is a certified public accountant (CPA) and a member of the Indiana CPA Society and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Mr. Kunkel earned his BS in Accounting from Ball State University in 1986. He currently lives in Batesville, Indiana with his wife Suzanne and his son.
